About Morlaix
Morlaix (French: [mɔʁlɛ]; approximately mor-LEH; Breton: Montroulez) is a commune and subprefecture in the Finistère department of Brittany in northwestern France. The town developed at the head of the Morlaix ria, where the Jarlot and Queffleuth rivers meet before reaching the English Channel. Its historic centre occupies the narrow valley around their confluence, while the modern town extends onto the surrounding plateaus. This setting shaped the development of its port and street pattern and continues to make the centre vulnerable to flooding. Documented from the 12th century as a fortified town, Morlaix became an important commercial centre during the later Middle Ages.
